Anita’s story
Anita Elizabeth Jensen-Kendrick, 34, lived in Lake Forest. In February or early March 2016, after telling her husband she had met another man, she drove away from home in her yellow 1999 Porsche Boxster, reportedly taking all her belongings. She hasn’t been seen or heard from since. [1][2]
That March, the Porsche was sold to a third party. A check with U.S. Customs and Border Protection found no record of her leaving the country. [1]
Who Anita was
Anita was born on June 15, 1981, and was originally from Jamaica. She speaks with a slight but noticeable accent. She was 5’5” and slim, about 107 to 110 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. According to people who knew her, she has a metal rod in her lower back from an injury in a car accident, and she has a scar near her left eye. [1][2]
What happened
Two official records describe her departure differently, and they complement each other:
- The Sheriff’s Department says she was last seen leaving home in the yellow Porsche in late February or early March 2016, after telling her husband she had met another man. [1]
- The federal NamUs record gives her date of last contact as Feb. 15, 2016, and says she left her residence in a vehicle with all her personal belongings. [2]
Within weeks the Porsche had been sold. The public record doesn’t say who sold it or who bought it. [1]
Taking all her belongings suggests she planned to leave. It doesn’t tell us where she went, who she went with, or what happened next.
What investigators have said
The Sheriff’s Department lists Anita as a missing person and has checked border records without result. Her case was entered in NamUs in April 2022, six years after she was last seen. A third-party listing gives an agency report date of Oct. 28, 2016, months after her last contact. That date hasn’t been confirmed by the Sheriff’s Department. [1][2][3]
Where accounts differ
- When she left. Feb. 15, 2016 (NamUs) or “late February or early March” (Sheriff’s Department). [1][2]
- Why she left. The only public account of her reason comes from what she reportedly told her husband. No one else has publicly confirmed it. [1]
